The UEFA Champions League has been the most prestigious soccer tournament of Europe since 1955.
The teams of all UEFA member countries, except Liechtenstein can participate in the UEFA Champions League. In 1992-93 season, the name of championship was Europe Champion Clubs’ Cup. Later, it was changed to Championship League.

Spanish teams have won 15 championships in total, becoming the most successful country teams. After Heysel disaster, the saddest event of tournament history, English fans were banned for 5 years since 1985. It was the most serious fan prohibition in the tournament history.
